We are writing this post as many of our visitors had repeatedly asked us whether one can change their SBI bank account address through onlinesbi portal, basically in other words changing addresses online.
There can be many reasons, for example;
You might already be having a bank account in SBI (State Bank of India) and you might have relocated or shifted to a new address. Due to this reason you might now want to change address in your SBI Bank Account.
It’s sad to state that currently there’s no such provision of a method to change address or initiate the process via online mode.
One has to mandatorily visit an SBI bank branch to change their address. It means you can visit ANY nearest SBI branch in your vicinity to request for an address there.
However you can get it change via email from registered id or through a letter by post.
As per directives of RBI on KYC norms, a low-risk customer (as decided by the bank, generally a normal customer is a low-risk customer) can send a self-attested copy of the proof of his current address via post/email to the bank for the change. He/She need not visit the branch for the same.
Are there any costs associated while changing the address?
No there aren’t any charges to change if you do it from your home branch, but we are not sure as of right now, if there are any charges for such service request completed at any different branch, we will update you on this soon.
What are the documents required for change of address in SBI bank?
These six documents are Passport, Driving Licence, Voters’ Identity Card, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card issued by UIDAI and NREGA Card. You need to submit any one of these documents as proof of identity.
If these documents also contain your address details, then it would be accepted as as ‘proof of address’.
What is the time duration required to the update to be processed ?
Your updated address should reflect on your account within few hours.
We also suggest you request the bank personnel to issue a new passbook with an updated address.
